We built Sifter because social media ignores the most interesting moment: the one happening right around you. You can be surrounded by thousands of people at a concert, campus, or event—and still have no way to connect with them in real time. Everything online is global, delayed, or filtered through follower graphs. Sifter flips that. Chat rooms are tied to real places, and you can only join if you’re physically there. When you leave, the conversation disappears. No followers, no history, no lurking from afar—just real conversations with the people around you, in the moment.
